For the past 14 years, Jack and Sherry Harris and Steve Smith have committed themselves to putting water wells in remote villages across India so the women do not have to walk for miles for this very essential need.  They’ve drilled and dedicated 155 wells across the region of Tamil Nadu, India, giving hundreds of thousands access to clean water.

In the remote villages of India, women are responsible to find and provide water for their family.  Not only do they not have running water in their home, they don’t even have it in their village. As women, their lives are very busy with all the details that it takes to run a home; the laundry, preparing meals, cleaning the house, taking care of children, etc.  Millions of women walk a mile or two every day, sometimes twice a day, to bring water back to their house.

Having access to fresh, clean water is a complete game changer for these women and their families! Is amazing how something as simple as water can change a life.

Legacy Wells is the humanitarian aid arm of Global Messenger Service, a world-wide missions organization focused on reaching unreached people groups and empowering leaders to reach their cities and nations.

Through the years, we have established children’s homes, clinics and a full-service hospital; adopted an entire slum; and provided food, vitamins and medical treatment to thousands in need, including those affected by tsunamis, hurricanes and floods.

Clean water, the essence of life and a birthright for everyone, must become available to all people now.
